USL to cater to foreign postgrad students through Beijing Wedu; 12 TM students fly to Thailand for professional exposure

The University of Saint Louis (USL) continues its internationalization efforts, as exemplified by a recent partnership with an international educational institution and successfully facilitating student internships in Thailand.

On April 5, 2024, USL signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Beijing Wedu International Education Technology Co. LTD. The agreement signifies that USL can now accommodate international students who are willing to pursue their postgraduate studies at the university. The initiative marks the commitment of the university to providing a dynamic and inclusive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.

The activity was attended by the key administrators of the university, comprising Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., University President; Dr. Luisa B. Aquino, Executive Assistant to the President; Dr. Rina M. Reyes, Vice President for Administration; Dr. Celso L. Tuddao, Vice President for Finance; Dr. Rizza V. Ramos, University Marketing and Internationalization Officer; and Brother John Zhao, CICM Intern.

Along with them are the representatives from WEDU International Education Technology Co. LTD., Mr. Xiliang Li, President, and Ms. Linda Peng, Staff.

Through this collaboration, the university aims to foster cultural exchange, academic excellence, and global citizenship by embracing innovative educational technologies and nurturing international partnerships.

Meanwhile, 12 fourth-year Bachelor of Science majoring in Tourism Management students flew to Phuket, Thailand, on April 4, 2024, for their professional exposure abroad.

The Professional Exposure Program serves as a transitional phase from the students’ role as full-time students to their future role as professionals in their respective fields. As part of the curriculum, they will render 300 hours of work at the Novotel Phuket Vintage Park Resort.

SABH Academic Dean, Dr. Alicia S. Tuliao, and Business Administration Department Head, Dr. Mary Ann Bartolome, accompanied the students. The selected students are Aileen Bagaoisan, Sunshine Catindoy, Sheilla Mae Culasing, Kyla Dongui-Is, Ica Mhey Duran, Precious Honeyley Lagmay, Angelyka Martillano, Stephanie Mae Orio, Judy Anne Torrado, Sherain Verzosa, Adriane Braga, and Niño Sayud.

The Professional Exposure Program is part of the Memorandum of Agreement signed between USL and St. Andrews Educational Services, the service provider.

USL’s recent initiatives align with its dedication to providing students with diverse and enriching educational experiences, preparing them for success in a globalized world.
