USL employees nourish mind, body in Wellness Program

Employees of the university eagerly took part in a day of wellness activities on March 6, 2024, embracing the opportunity to prioritize their health and growth in the midst of their professional endeavors.

In the morning, the employees engaged in a talk session about topics for professional growth. Ms. Kristine Mae Auayang, SEAS Faculty, discussed strategies to avoid communication breakdown and achieve effective communication, while Mr. Amancio Novo Jr., CICT Director, touched on cybersecurity awareness and shared tips on how to protect themselves from cyber threats. Moreover, Ms. Maria Elena Madriaga, BSP Bank Officer IV, shared her knowledge about effective personal and digital financial management.

In the afternoon, they competed in various board games and outdoor sports among four teams, namely, Green, Yellow, Pink, and Red. The contested events include basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, chess, game of the generals, scrabble, sungka, and word factory.

The day’s events culminated in a 30-minute Zumba session, providing a fun and energetic conclusion to the day’s activities.

The activity, dubbed the Employees’ Wellness Program, aims to alleviate work-related stress, encourage physical exercise, and foster a sense of community and social connection among employees. By providing a range of wellness activities, USL hopes to support the overall well-being of its workforce and improve employee morale.

The Employees’ Wellness Program is led by the university’s Human Resource Management and Development Office, headed by Mrs. Claire Tumapang Gumarang, HRMDO Director. Since its relaunch in August last year, the program has shown steady improvement and has significantly enhanced the wellness of the employees.
