FRAP MATCHA equips Louisian freshmen with tools for a stronger start

The Guidance and Counseling Center, through the Freshmen Readiness and Adjustment Program (FRAP) MATCHA, brought freshmen together for meaningful discussions on study habits, academic pressure, and student well-being.

MATCHA, which stands for Moving towards Advance Learning to Transform Louisian Students in aCHieving Academic Success, supports first-year Louisians as they transition into college and take their first steps toward academic success.

For the School of Health and Allied Sciences (SHAS), alumnus Mr. Ralph Harold C. Renosa, RN, MSN, CIDN, Nurse V at Cagayan Valley Medical Center, facilitated “Starting Strong: Building Smart Study Habits for Academic Success” on September 1 at the Bulwagang Teodulfo Domingo.

Moreover, for the School of Accountancy, Business, and Hospitality (SABH), alumnus Mr. Mark Chester C. Tungcul discussed “Your Journey to Success Begins Here: Study Smart, Set Goals, Manage Pressure for College” on September 2 at the Bishop Constant Jurgens Campus Audio-Visual Room (BCJC-AVR).

Meanwhile, School of Education, Criminology, Arts, and Psychology (SECAP) alumna Ms. Ayesha Nicole D. Laureta discoursed “Study, Strive, and Thrive: Strengthening Study Skills, Academic Goals, and Resilience” on September 3 at the BCJC-AVR.

Lastly, School of Architecture, Computing, and Engineering (SACE) students joined alumna Engr. Donnah Elaine C. Jurado, DEM for “Adjusting and Thriving: Managing School Pressure and Expectations” on September 7 at SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown.

More than introducing freshmen to the demands of college, FRAP MATCHA gave them practical reminders on how to study effectively, manage pressure, and ask for help when needed. It also reminded them that adjusting to college does not happen overnight, and that every small step counts.

Through FRAP MATCHA, the Guidance and Counseling Center continues to help Louisian freshmen find their footing and start college on the right path. The initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive and supportive learning experiences that help students develop the skills and resilience needed to succeed in their education.
