USLT-BES hosts SHS Family Day 2026

Gathering students, parents, and educators for a day of fellowship, the Senior High School (SHS) of the Basic Education School (BES) department of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) conducted its Family Day on October 17, 2026 at the Open Field. The event centered on the theme, “Faith, Family and Focus: Staying Connected Beyond the Screen,” which highlighted the value of direct personal engagement and spiritual strength.

The morning opened by an energetic Zumba session led by STEM Health Set 2, the Zumba Intersection Champion. Mrs. Vanessa Moreno-Maramag delivered the opening prayer, after which team representatives showcased their group dynamic through team presentations, cheers, and yells. SHS Executive Family Council (EFC) President Atty. Gaylord A. Somera delivered the welcoming remarks, while University President Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., shared an inspiring message with the participants.

Following the formal opening, the venue came alive during the interactive parlor games. These activities gave families and students an opportunity to collaborate, compete in good spirits, and share lighthearted moments together. Excitement reached its peak during the raffle draw, where lucky winners took home special prizes, before everyone gathered to enjoy a shared lunch that further deepened fellowship among attendees.

As the celebration drew to a close, BES Principal Emily T. Mabborang, Ph.D., delivered the words of gratitude, acknowledging the vital efforts of the organizers, school administration, officers, and families whose presence and support made the event a success. Grounding the day’s highlights in faith and thanksgiving, Marie Grace M. Queman of the SHS EFC then led the assembly in the closing prayer.

Beyond the scheduled festivities, the gathering provided a valuable opportunity to step away from digital routine and foster meaningful, real-time interaction. Participating in shared activities allowed students and their families to strengthen mutual understanding and trust. For parents and guardians, the event served as an active platform to collaborate closely with the school community in supporting their children’s growth.

Furthermore, the initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). By promoting movement, interactive play, and strong family ties, the activity fostered physical health and emotional wellness. It also contributed to quality education by providing experiential learning opportunities that cultivate social responsibility and character beyond academic instruction.
