Celebrating international academic triumph, the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) Basic Education School (BES) in collaboration with the Alliance of Math Enthusiasts (AME), recognized its TIMO achievers during the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) through an Awarding Ceremony held on October 20, 2026 at the N-Hall.
The ceremony honored the outstanding achievements of Louisian mathletes after USLT secured the title of Top Performing School Nationwide in the recently concluded TIMO Heat Round.
The program began with an opening remarks from Mathematics Area Head Mrs. Rosel B. Gannaban, MAEd, who acknowledged the dedication and grit of the student awardees, parents, and faculty members.
Following this, Senior High School (SHS) AME Moderator Mr. Romnick D. Magusib, LPT, then presented an overview of the international Olympiad, highlighting the rigorous journey and academic excellence exhibited by the participants.
The event displayed the conferment of awards, where certificates and medals were presented across multiple categories—Primary Divisions (Primary 1, 2, 3, 4, 6), Junior Secondary Divisions (Secondary 1, 2, 3), and Senior Secondary / Group Division.
Beyond the recognition and medals, hosting and participating in such prestigious international competitions serves as a vital cornerstone for the intellectual and personal development of Louisian learners.
By challenging students to solve complex mathematical problems under pressure, the event instills resilience, analytical thinking, and a passion for continuous inquiry. Recognizing these accomplishments publicly validates their hard work, boosting their self-confidence and inspiring them to reach even greater heights in future academic pursuits.
Furthermore, this institutional celebration fosters a supportive culture of excellence and collaboration within the school community. As younger Louisians witness the success of their peers, it cultivates a growth mindset across all grade levels, demonstrating that academic mastery can be achieved through discipline and perseverance.
In alignment with global developmental frameworks, this milestone directly supports two United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
By recognizing and promoting high-level competence in mathematics, the institution advances SDG 4 by ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education that empowers students with critical problem-solving skills necessary for the 21st century.
Concurrently, mathematical proficiency forms the foundational bedrock of technological advancements, engineering, and scientific research, thereby aligning with SDG 9 by laying the groundwork for future innovators who will drive industrial progress and sustainable development.
