USLT-BES campus journalists triumph at DSPC 2026

Student-journalists from the Basic Education School (BES) of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) bagged multiple awards at the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2026, held at Tuguegarao North Central School, Tuguegarao City, on September 3-5, 2026.

The Louisian delegation secured top placements in several individual and group categories after competing against student writers and broadcasters from across the division.

Prior to the event, the participants underwent a week of training sessions and simulations to hone their skills in writing, editing, layout, and broadcasting.

Publication coaches Desiree O. Callangan, MST, and Kristine Ann A. Taguba, MST, who also serve as school paper advisers, led the practical mentoring to prepare the delegates for the press conference.

Beyond the awards, the annual press conference serves as a platform for campus journalism in action, supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Student journalists applied these principles by covering local community issues, verifying facts, and reporting on public interest topics.
