USLT strengthens global academic linkages thru international undertaking in China

Marie Joyce Z. Aggabao, MBA, Head of the Accountancy Department of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT), represented the university in an international undertaking in China from September 29 to October 3, 2026, to explore opportunities for academic collaboration, leadership development, and international partnerships.

The undertaking featured institutional visits to Xiamen University in Fujian Province and Peking University in Beijing, providing opportunities to gain insights into the practices and approaches of leading Chinese higher education institutions.

It also included leadership roundtables and collaborative dialogues with Chinese education officials on language learning and holistic education. Aggabao likewise participated in dialogues with the Philippine Ambassador to China and the Consul General in Xiamen, strengthening opportunities for cross-cultural exchange and international academic engagement.

The program further provided a platform for global networking, with discussions on potential sister-school partnerships, student and faculty mobility programs, and collaborative academic initiatives. These engagements opened avenues for knowledge exchange and the development of educational linkages that could contribute to USLT’s internationalization efforts.

Beyond academic and professional engagements, the undertaking included cultural and historical visits to Gulangyu Island in Xiamen and the Forbidden City and Great Wall in Beijing. These experiences offered a deeper appreciation of China’s cultural heritage and the importance of cultural understanding in international education.

Through Aggabao’s participation, USLT continues to explore opportunities to engage with the global academic community and strengthen its capacity to respond to the evolving demands of higher education. Such international exposure also supports professional development by providing opportunities to learn from diverse educational systems and leadership practices.

This initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, through the pursuit of quality and globally responsive educational practices, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by promoting international cooperation and potential institutional partnerships that advance shared educational objectives.
