USLT launches 61st Founding Anniversary with Grand Opening Night

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) officially opened its 61st Founding Anniversary Grand Opening Night on February 9, 2026, at the Open Field, marking the beginning of a series of celebrations filled with pride, talent, and Louisian spirit.

The ceremony formally commenced with the hoisting of flags, followed by the creative lighting of the torch by the Philippines’ first-ever Olympic gold medalist, Hidilyn F. Diaz-Naranjo, symbolizing strength, unity, and excellence. University President Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, then declared the event officially open, welcoming the Louisian community to the festivities.

Excitement filled the grounds as the evening’s competitions began with the Jumpstreet Showdown, where five departments battled it out in a lively showcase of dance grooves, synchronized movements, and creative costumes and props. Emerging as champion was the Basic Education School (BES), followed by the School of Health and Allied Sciences (SHAS) as first runner-up and the School of Architecture, Computing, and Engineering (SACE) as second runner-up. Also drawing cheers from the crowd were performances from the School of Education, Criminology, Arts, and Psychology (SECAP) and the School of Accountancy, Business, and Hospitality (SABH).

The socio-cultural competitions continued with the Louisian Pop (Boy Group) showdown, featuring campus heartthrobs representing their respective schools. SABH clinched the title, with SACE placing second and SECAP securing third place.

Capping off the night was Louisian Vocal Clash – Round 1, where ten talented performers showcased their vocal prowess. After intense performances, six contestants advanced to the next round, setting the stage for even fiercer competition in the days ahead.

The Grand Opening Night successfully set an energetic and festive tone for the weeklong celebration, uniting Louisians in a shared spirit of excellence as the university celebrates another milestone year.
