The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT), led by student organizations including the Young Enthusiasts of Science (YES) Club and employees, participated in the multi-agency 2026 Coastal Cleanup Drive at Cataggaman Nuevo on September 19, 2026, in observance of International Coastal Cleanup Day.
USLT student leaders and volunteers joined partner institutions and civic organizations in cleaning local shorelines and waterways. The volunteers collected marine debris and helped ensure the proper disposal of waste gathered during the activity.
The cleanup gave students an opportunity to put environmental awareness into action while contributing to the protection of local ecosystems. Through their participation, the volunteers also strengthened their sense of responsibility toward the environment and their community.
The said activity supports Sustainable Development Goal 14 (Life Below Water) by helping prevent waste from reaching waterways and marine habitats. It also contributed to Sustainable Development Goal 15 (Life on Land) by promoting the protection of local ecosystems, Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through proper waste management, and Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among schools, organizations, and community partners.
