USLT holds Louisian Resilience Circle for college student-athletes

In the spirit of fostering resilience and mental toughness among student-athletes, the Louisian Resilience Circle (LRC) took center stage on March 25, 2025, at the university’s N-Hall.

With the theme “Beyond the Scoreboard: The Heart of Student-Athletes’ Resilience,” the event brought together Louisian college student-athletes for an empowering session on overcoming challenges both on and off the field.

Spearheaded by the Guidance and Counseling Center-College Unit, in partnership with Ms. Mirelle Jean A. Caronan, Director of the Center for Sports Development, this initiative aimed to equip our College Louisian student-athletes with essential mental resilience skills.

The event featured two esteemed speakers who explored the 4 Cs of mental toughness. Mr. Jenikko L. Quinto, SHAS Guidance Associate, discussed topics on confidence and control, emphasizing self-belief and emotional regulation in high-pressure situations.

Meanwhile, Ms. Maria Elizabeth T. Lacambra, SACE Guidance Associate, covered commitment and challenges, highlighting perseverance, goal-setting, and the importance of embracing setbacks as opportunities for growth.

Beyond insightful discussions, participants engaged in team-building activities, reinforcing the values of camaraderie, determination, and adaptability—traits essential for success in both sports and life.

Through the Louisian Resilience Circle (LRC), student-athletes had the opportunity to reflect on their strengths and develop a mindset centered on growth and perseverance. By integrating psychological resilience into their athletic journey, they gained valuable insights to help them navigate pressure, setbacks, and future competitions with greater confidence and mental strength.

With initiatives like LRC under Project GINHAWA (Gearing Towards Individual Holistic Actions and Well-being Achievement), USLT remains committed to nurturing the holistic well-being of its students. This initiative serves as a powerful reminder that success is not just about winning but about the resilience to rise after every fall and move forward with determination.
