USLT Good Shepherd Chapel launches Jubilee Year 2025

On January 5, 2025, on the Solemnity of Epiphany, 23 pilgrim churches and chapels of the  Archdiocese of Tuguegarao simultaneously launched the Jubilee Year 2025. Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, Vice President for Mission and Identity (VPMI)/University Chaplain, led the unveiling of the banner, marking the Good Shepherd Chapel as one of the Pilgrim Churches in the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao.

The Good Shepherd Chapel of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) is chosen as one of the Jubilee Pilgrim Churches in the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao in which the announcement was first made in the website of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) last November 2024. With the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, the Jubilee Year 2025 was officially opened by Pope Francis with the opening of the Jubilee Door at the St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City on December 24, 2024. On December 28, 2024, Most Rev. Ricardo L. Baccay, D.D. presided over the  Archdiocesan Opening Celebration of the Jubilee Year 2025 at the St. Peter’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

The theme for the Good Shepherd Chapel during the Jubilee Year 2025 focuses on Teenagers and the Youth. The Archdiocesan Jubilee Sectoral Celebration for this group will be held at the chapel in April, with various activities planned for the occasion. As one of the designated Pilgrim Churches in the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao, the Good Shepherd Chapel will welcome pilgrims throughout the year for prayer, Mass, and Confession.

The faithful are encouraged to receive God’s mercy through the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation during this Jubilee Year. For those unable to visit the Five Jubilee Churches in Rome, the 23 Pilgrim Churches within the Archdiocese serve as local pilgrimage sites where spiritual graces may be obtained. The Jubilee Year of Hope also calls on everyone to perform works of mercy, engage in acts of penance, and pray for the intentions of Pope Francis.

As one  Louisian pilgrim community, may we welcome our fellow pilgrims of hope with open arms and accompany them as they visit our chapel for pilgrimage.
