The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) took part in the 31st ASEACCU Conference held at Providence University, Taichung City, Taiwan, from August 18 to 21, 2025.
With the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: Spiritual Development and Action of Gen Z,” the gathering brought together Catholic higher education institutions across Asia to share insights on how schools can support the faith, values, and social engagement of the younger generation.
USLT was represented by Rev. Fr. John Mark Barroga, Vice President for Mission and Identity; Dr. Darin Jan Tindowen, Senior Director of the University Research and Innovation Office; Ms. Abigail Gumabay, Department Head of Christian Faith Education; and Ms. Jeremae Sagario, Basic Education School Immersion Area Head.
The four-day conference featured talks, workshops, and group discussions on the challenges faced by Generation Z in living out their faith and values in today’s fast-changing world. Delegates reflected on ways Catholic universities can respond by strengthening spiritual formation programs, fostering intercultural understanding, and promoting active involvement in community development.
Significantly, USLT’s participation highlighted the university’s commitment to its mission of faith-based education and its effort to engage in dialogue with Catholic institutions in the region.
Notably, the university became a member of the Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASEACCU) in 2024, joining a growing network of Catholic colleges and universities that collaborate in academic, cultural, and spiritual initiatives.
