The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) celebrated Indigenous Peoples (IP) culture during its monthly First Friday Holy Mass on October 2, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Chapel.
During the celebration, the United Cordilleran Students Cultural Organization (UCSCO) presented a cultural performance before the Mass. Members of the university community were also encouraged to wear an appropriate IP accessory or accent to show their appreciation of Indigenous culture.
Presiding over the Holy Mass were Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, Vice President for Mission and Identity and University Chaplain, and Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., University President.
Meanwhile, a special prayer was offered for the takers of the October 2026 Pharmacists Licensure Examination (PhLE), scheduled on October 15 and 16. The USLT community prayed for the examinees as they prepare for the upcoming examination.
After the Mass, selected participants received the IP Outfit Award for their participation and appreciation of Indigenous culture.
Through the celebration, USLT supports Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities by promoting respect for Indigenous cultures and appreciation of cultural diversity. It also supports SDG 4: Quality Education by providing opportunities for students and employees to learn about and appreciate cultural heritage beyond the classroom.
