An alumna of the University of Saint Louis High School Department received the Florence Nightingale Award in the United States of America.
Mrs. Janina Singson Galangga, a registered nurse who is from USL’s high school batch of 2002, is among the 12 distinguished recipients of the prestigious award across the US in the Titan Division. The Florence Nightingale Award recognizes her “exemplary service, exceptional devotion, and a pioneering spirit in caring for every patient.” This accolade highlights her outstanding contributions in the field of nursing, as well as her embodiment of the values and principles epitomized by Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
Galangga’s successful transition to the US began when she moved two years ago to work as a nurse at Davita Kidney Care Center in Hamptons, Virginia, and was promoted to clinical manager after 5 months. In her interview with ABS-CBN TFC, she credited her prior experiences as a nurse at Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, at a military hospital in Saudi Arabia, and in the dialysis unit of the Pampanga Medical Specialist Hospital, where she has developed a strong foundation of skills and expertise, helping her launch a successful career in the US.
In her Facebook post, Galangga expressed her joy at receiving the award. “I am so honored and excited to receive this award. Bosses from the Cardinal Division came over to our clinic to surprise me and handed me this recognition. I am beyond ecstatic and grateful.”
Filipino talents making their mark on the global stage is truly encouraging. May her story provide inspiration to aspiring nurses, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and Filipinos worldwide.
