From a Louisian Electrical Engineer to an Electrical, SCADA Sr. Specialist

Meet the new Electrical and SCADA Sr. Specialist at SN Aboitiz Power Magat Dam, Mr. Mark Angelo B. Cristobal. Mr. Cristobal, in his new position, is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing asset management activities for Electrical and SCADA equipment, including OT Security and the future iROC. He will also lead the review and integration of future power plants into operation and maintenance systems.

 

He demonstrated his expertise in the field by playing a key role in various projects, including overseeing electrical installation, testing, and commissioning for the BESS Project Implementation Team.

He also contributed to the Magat Generating and Transformer Unit Protection upgrades, as well as the TWG Magat SCADA Upgrade to ABB. He conducted a Technical Study for the Magat upgrading to 388 MW and updated Maris HEPP Protection Settings.

In 2015, Gelo commenced his professional journey as a cadet engineer at SNAP Magat, later transitioning to the role of Electrical Engineer at Binga Multipurpose Cooperative. Returning to SNAP Magat that same year, he contributed as an Electrical Engineer in the Maintenance department, all while concurrently holding a part-time instructor position at the University of Saint Louis-Tuguegarao until 2016.

A registered Electrical Engineer, Mr. Cristobal earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saint Louis-Tuguegarao, graduating in the class of 2014. Furthermore, he holds certification as a Certified Infrared Thermographer, showcasing his commitment to excellence in his field.
