The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) held its Pre-Service Teachers’ Send-Off Ceremony on September 3, 2026, at the Bulwagang Teodulfo Domingo, honoring the 4th-year Teacher Education students of Batch Fortis Via Sapientiae as they prepare to embark on their teaching internship.
The ceremony began with a Eucharistic Celebration at the Good Shepherd Chapel, presided over by Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, Vice President for Mission and Identity/ University Chaplain.
Carrying the theme “Fortis Via Sapientiae: Rooted in Values, Rising in Wisdom,” the send-off ceremony highlighted the students’ transition from classroom learning to the practical experience of the teaching profession.
The program formally opened with a welcome address from Luisa B. Aquino, Ed.D., Vice President for Academics and Research, who underscored the importance of the students’ preparation as they take on greater responsibilities as future educators.
A message of inspiration was also delivered by guest speaker Merlita B. Quiming, LPT, who shared insights and encouragement for the students as they begin their practice teaching journey.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the pinning and candle-lighting ceremony, facilitated by the dean, department heads, and supervising instructor. The ceremony symbolized the students’ readiness to carry the responsibilities of the teaching profession and to bring the values and knowledge they gained at the university into their assigned practice-teaching settings.
Moreover, the program also featured a tribute to the students and their parents, recognizing the support and sacrifices of families throughout the students’ academic journey.
The ceremony concluded with remarks from Herbert S. Corpuz, Ed.D., Dean of the School of Advanced Studies and the School of Education, Criminology, Arts, and Psychology, who emphasized the importance of remaining rooted in the values they have developed at USLT as they face the opportunities and challenges of the teaching profession.
Ultimately, the send-off marked not only the beginning of the students’ practice-teaching experience but also another significant step toward their formation as competent, values-driven, and future-ready educators, contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through the preparation of qualified and committed teachers.
