Code Without Borders: Computer Science Interns Embark on Global Training in China

In a significant stride toward global academic excellence and industry exposure, three (3) Computer Science students from the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) have officially begun their international training at Nantong Vocational University (NTVU) in Nantong, Jiangsu, China.

This overseas internship results from a strategic partnership between USLT and NTVU, offering a 23-day immersive program from June 10 to July 1, 2025. The program is designed to equip students with practical experience in software development, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies, placing them at the forefront of innovation in one of the world’s leading tech environments.

Throughout the internship, participants will engage in various hands-on activities, including collaborative coding sessions, software testing, technical presentations, and innovation challenges. Beyond the technical training, students will also take part in cultural enrichment activities such as Chinese calligraphy, Mandarin classes, and guided tours of China’s major tech hubs.

Representing USLT in this pioneering initiative are Regine B. Sorita, Betina Soleil B. Telan, and Christine Dane O. Gestiada.

“Embarking on this international internship feels like stepping into the future, where we get to innovate with the latest technology and explore a new culture,” said Sorita. “It’s a challenging yet rewarding opportunity, especially for us as the first group to undertake this program in China. In just the first four days, we’ve already had fun and memorable experiences. Their warm hospitality has made it easier for us to adjust and fully embrace the learning journey and cultural exchange. The technology here is more advanced, giving us a broader perspective and exposure beyond what we’re used to.”

The cross-cultural internship was made possible through the efforts of the GloCal Partnerships and Engagement (GPE) Office in collaboration with the Information Technology (IT) Department.

This initiative aligns with USLT’s internationalization roadmap, aiming to promote global mobility, cross-border learning, and career-building opportunities for Louisian students.
