The Advancement Office (AO), through its Corporate Communications and Marketing Unit, conducted the Orientation for Aspiring Louisian Scoopers today, August 28, 2026, at the Bulwagang Teodulfo Domingo, introducing students to the role of Louisian Scoopers in documenting and sharing stories about university activities.
The orientation featured discussions on essential areas of university journalism. Engr. Marvin S. Silva, ME-ECE, SACE CECA Coordinator, discussed the Roles of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Writing, highlighting how university stories can reflect the institution’s contributions to sustainable development and its impact on the community.
Following the discussion on SDGs, Vincent R. Battaring, MAEd, staff of the Corporate Communications and Marketing Office, tackled News and Feature Writing to provide participants with an overview of how to develop timely, relevant, and engaging stories from university events and activities.
Meanwhile, Michael Johnson P. Caparas, MIT, Head of Multimedia Productions, discussed Photo Documentation and emphasized the role of photographs in effectively capturing and complementing important moments and stories.
The orientation also featured Natalie Kate C. Ramirez, MST, Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing, who discussed the University Journalism Structure and Processes in Writing Articles as Louisian Scoopers, introducing participants to the proper process of documenting university events and turning these into news articles for the Louisian community.
In line with its commitment to sustainable development, the orientation supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by providing participants with knowledge and skills in journalism, communication, and responsible information sharing. It also contributes to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by promoting accurate, responsible, and transparent communication within the university community.
