TLC shines in individual, publication categories at Luzonwide press tilt

The Louisian Courier (TLC), official student publication of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao, delivered a strong performance after securing multiple recognitions in both individual and publication categories during the 21st Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference held on March 17–19, 2026 at NGN Gran Hotel.


The three-day gathering assembled campus journalists and advisers from 167 higher education institutions across Luzon, with additional participation from Region VII, under the theme “Voices Ablaze: Campus Journalists as Vigilant Truthtellers.”


In the individual category, TLC writers and artists earned placements across several contests. Reynaldo T. Liquigan Jr. finished 3rd in Column Writing (English), while Ryza Judia D. Berbano also secured 3rd place in Traditional Comic Strip Drawing (English). Dharyll John E. Sejalbo placed 4th in Sports Writing (Filipino). Precious Donna E. Manuel ranked 8th in Feature Writing (English), and Jean Audrey M. Lagrio placed 9th in Development Communication Writing (English).


Other TLC members likewise represented the publication in various events, including Intel John Louis T. Bumagat (News Writing–English), Samantha Ashely O. Callangan (News Writing–Filipino), Cristian Jess C. Ventura (Literary Graphics–Traditional, English), Jericho R. Dela Cruz (Copy Reading and Headline Writing–Filipino; Infographics; Layouting), Christian Jelo L. Asuncion (Editorial Cartooning–Traditional, Filipino; Comic Strip Drawing–Digital; Editorial Cartooning–Digital, English), and Charlone J. Agustin (Editorial Cartooning–Traditional, English).


Beyond individual recognitions, TLC’s publication entries also garnered awards across multiple issues. The literary folio SALIMPUSA placed 4th overall and earned 2nd place for Best Literary Content, 5th place for Best Page Design, 8th place for Best Literary Concept, and 10th place for Best Literary Graphics.


The magazine KANTORIT received 7th place for Best Editorial Page, along with 8th place finishes in both Best Literary Page and Best Cover Design. Meanwhile, the newsletter CATALYST secured 1st place for Best News Page and 9th place for Best Sports Page, while the tabloid LAKANLAYA placed 8th in both Best Sports Page and Best Literary Page.


This shows the pride of USLT, as its student journalists continue to demonstrate excellence and bring honor to the university.
