The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) successfully hosted the National Basic Education School Research Congress (NBESRC) 2026 from February 27 to 28 under the theme “Research for a Sustainable Future.”
The congress was especially notable for the presence of Dr. Benjamin Paragas, CESO III, the Regional Director of the Department of Education Region 02, representing Hon. Juan Edgardo Sonny Angara. Mr. Amir Aquino and Dr. Angelita Rabanal also attended the event, representing Dr. Virginia Bilgera, the Department of Science and Technology Region 2 Director.
In a message delivered by Dr. Paragas on his behalf, Hon.
The plenary sessions offered discussions from the invited speakers. Dr. Antonio Tamayao kicked things off by sharing insights on translating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into actionable research. Dr. Billy Siddayao followed, talking about inspiring educators and young researchers in basic education.
After a productive first day, the evening concluded with a sociocultural night and a congress dinner.
On the second day, participants reunited for talks from education leaders, including Dr. Gilbert N. Tong, the DepEd Schools Division Superintendent of Tuguegarao City.
