USLT welcomes visiting Professor from China

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) proudly welcomed Ms. Qian Wang, Director of the English Teaching and Research Office of Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College (SUCC) in China, as a visiting professor from August 26 to September 2, 2025.

Ms. Wang’s visit is part of the continuing academic collaboration between USLT and SUCC, made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that fosters international exchange of faculty and students for both long-term and short-term programs.

During her immersion, Ms. Wang engaged with BS Hospitality Management (BSHM) students, Basic Education School (BES) students enrolled in Afro-Asian Literature and Physical Education, and Teacher Education students. She also delivered a special lecture to the BSHM students on Chinese Mandarin, offering them an introduction to the language and culture.  Faculty members of the Languages Department also actively participated in her sessions, benefitting from her expertise in Chinese language teaching and intercultural learning.

The programs also included a cultural tour/community visit, a campus tour, Chinese Mandarin classes, and lectures about Chinese paper cutting and origami, traditional Chinese clothing, Chinese festivals and food, Chinese literature and writers, and Chinese characteristics and calligraphy. A special In-Service Training (INSET) in Chinese Mandarin for the Languages Department was also held on August 29.

Her visit culminated in a closing ceremony on September 2, highlighting the value of international partnerships in strengthening academic excellence, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding among institutions.

USLT is committed to fostering meaningful collaborations with partner institutions abroad, offering Louisian students and faculty the chance to learn across borders and develop global competencies.

The Louisian community extends its sincere gratitude to Ms. Qian Wang for sharing her expertise and cultural insights, which have greatly enriched the educational experiences of both students and faculty. We look forward to more fruitful collaborations with SUCC in the future.
