Louisian MLS students join International Mobility and Cultural Exchange Program in Thailand

Five Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) students from the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) broadened their academic and cultural horizons through the International Mobility and Cultural Exchange Program (IMCEP) held at Huachiew Chalermprakiet University (HCU), Thailand, from July 14 to August 8, 2025.

The program aimed to enhance students’ competencies in medical laboratory science, expose them to advanced laboratory techniques, and promote cultural awareness through international collaboration.

The participants were Ma. Sophia Bianca P. Allam, Kate Jirah B. Blaquera, Karl Verlu D. Cabillon, Andrei John B. Cadeliña, and Joanna Marie B. Puducay.

During their stay, the Louisian delegates took part in both academic and cultural activities. They experienced snake venom extraction at the Thailand Red Cross Snake Farm, explored fluorescence microscopy applications in diagnostics, and joined a cultural excursion to Nongnooch Tropical Garden in Pattaya.

Beyond skills training, the exchange also gave the students meaningful takeaways. They witnessed world-class hospital facilities and healthcare practices, gained a deeper respect for cultural diversity, and developed an appreciation for innovation, ethical research, and life in all its forms. The program then concluded with a graduation ceremony held on August 8, 2025.

Through IMCEP, USLT and HCU continue to strengthen ties, opening more opportunities for young Louisian scientists to learn, connect, and grow in a global setting.
