Dr. Luisa B. Aquino, USLT’s Vice President for Academics, has returned from Germany after successfully completing the initial phase of the prestigious DIES LEADx – Leadership for Transforming Higher Education Institutions. The international initiative, which focuses on leadership for transforming higher education, will allow Dr. Aquino to apply advanced management skills and best practices gained from global exchanges directly to her work at USLT.
Out of more than 150 applicants from over 20 countries, Dr. Aquino was among 25 female Vice Presidents selected globally to participate in the prestigious international initiative aimed at strengthening higher education management structures worldwide.
The DIES LEADx program is organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), and the University of Potsdam (UP). Its goal is to equip visionary women leaders with advanced skills to drive transformative change in their respective Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
The program utilizes a blended-learning format consisting of two in-person workshops, alongside synchronous and asynchronous online sessions. Dr. Aquino attended the first in-person workshop held from October 6-10, 2025, at the University of Potsdam, near Berlin. This intensive phase featured expert-led workshops facilitated by renowned international trainers from Europe and partner regions, institutional visits to German universities, research organizations, and higher education policy institutions, and opportunities to connect with a global cohort of 24 other high-ranking female leaders.
Dr. Aquino will return to Germany for the second in-person workshop in March 2026, where she will continue to develop and refine her institutional change project for USLT.
