Viva, SECAP! A festive week of academic excellence, competence, artistry, creativity, and sports

This week is truly remarkable for the School of Education, Criminology, Arts, and Psychology (SECAP) department as it brought to life the iconic Philippine festivals of Panagbenga, Pahiyas, and Masskara during the much-anticipated SECAP Week, with the theme “SECAP PISTANG ALIWAN: Aspiring, Leading, Innovating Wonders for a Nexus Diamond Legacy.”

Inspired by the rich heritage and the festive spirit of the Philippines, this was more than just a gathering; it was a celebration of academic excellence, competence, artistry, creativity, and sports. The SECAP Fun Run kicked off the week on October 6, 2024, setting the pace for the coming days.

The first day was a fusion of literary and athletic events that unfolded simultaneously with a perfect combination of mind and muscle as literary events brought out their imaginations, while sports events tested their physical prowess. Following, students passionately defended their stances in a battle of wits and words during the highly anticipated Debate Cup. Ultimately, the first day’s highlight was at the James Ter Meer Gymnasium, where socio-cultural events flared in thrill and excitement. They hopped with energy in the Jump Street event, voices soared in the Vocal Clash Round, and everyone eagerly awaited the SECAP Ambassador and Ambassadress.

Day two centered on Political Science Society Day as the BS in Political Science students showcased their intellect and critical thinking. It was a perfect day to be immersed in the current issues, where young minds gathered to shape the future.

On the third day, the highlights were the Louisian Institute of Future Educators as they huddled for activities to uplift their calling. Aspiring teachers participated in events, emphasizing their role in shaping and igniting the next generation.

The Junior Association of Psychology Students and the Criminology Students Service Society took the spotlight on Day 4, showcasing their domains through various events. The momentous events sharpened their minds to understand human behavior and maintain societal order.

The final day marked the SECAP Week’s conclusion, with the Debate Cup Finals heating up the stage. The continuation of the socio-cultural events kept the energy festive as students reveled in the closing moments of the week-long celebration, beckoning their bonds and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

As SECAP Week draws to a close, the legacy of the students and their journey toward leadership, academic excellence, competence, artistry, creativity, and sports have been profoundly etched into the heart of the university.

In a true celebration of nostalgia for the Philippines’ famous festivals, SECAP Week is a vivid reminder of the brilliance and cultural pride SECAP students carry onward. With the blooming of Panagbenga, the rich craftworks of Pahiyas, and the happiness of Masskara, the SECAP department will continue to thrive, innovate, and inspire.
