USLT supports Panthropocene Archaeological Project in Cagayan

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) joins as one of the partner institutions in the ongoing Panthropocene Archaeological Project, a collaborative research initiative led by the University of the Philippines School of Archaeology (UP-SOA), in coordination with the Cagayan Museum and Historical Research Center.

The project seeks to study colonial-period land use in the province of Cagayan through archaeological excavations, with initial fieldwork at the Nagsimbaanan Ruins in Sanchez Mira. This endeavor is supported by local and international partners, including the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao and the Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology.

Representatives from the research team paid courtesy visits to the offices of Governor Edgar “Manong Egay” Aglipay, Vice Governor Manuel Mamba, Tuguegarao City Mayor Maila Ting-Que, and USLT University President Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, PhD, as part of their engagement efforts with stakeholders.

USLT is honored to contribute to this interdisciplinary project by providing research support and assistance throughout the study. As a university committed to academic collaboration and heritage preservation, USLT recognizes the importance of exploring and understanding our shared past.
