USLT, SLCB strengthen academic partnership thru benchmarking, MOA signing

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) welcomed administrators and academic leaders from St. Louis College of Bulanao (SLCB) for an Academic Benchmarking Activity and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing held on December 11, 2025, at the Bulwagang Tedulfo Domingo.


The activity formally opened with a welcome message from Dr. Luisa B. Aquino, Vice President for Academics, who underscored the importance of collaboration and shared learning in advancing institutional quality. The objectives and direction of the benchmarking were presented by Dr. Anjanette Batulan, Director for Glocal Partnerships and Engagement, setting the tone for a focused exchange of best practices.


Key university officials presented USLT’s core academic and institutional initiatives. Dr. Aquino discussed the university’s academic programs and outcomes-based education implementation, highlighting responsiveness to 21st-century learning demands. Dr. Marie Jean Mendezabal, Director for Strategic Management, Quality Assurance and Accreditation, outlined USLT’s quality assurance systems and accreditation strategies, while Dr. Darin Jan Tindowen, Director of the University Research and Innovation Office, presented the institution’s research and creative works agenda. Learner support services and community engagement initiatives were likewise featured through presentations by Ms. Maribel Tacata, Jr., Dean of Student Affairs and Services, and Ms. Lily Ann Dela Cruz, OIC-Director for Community Engagement and CICM Advocacies.


The benchmarking activity continued through parallel sessions across key result areas, allowing participants from both institutions to engage in in-depth discussions, compare practices, and identify areas for collaboration and improvement.


Following the sessions, Fr. Sean B. Mejia, JCL, President of St. Louis College of Bulanao, delivered a response message, affirming the value of the shared insights and the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation.


A highlight of the program was the Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, formalizing the partnership between USLT and SLCB in quality assurance mentoring. The agreement signifies a renewed commitment to academic excellence, institutional capacity building, and continuous improvement.


The activity concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Marie Rose Mora, Vice President for Administration, who emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration and shared purpose in advancing the mission of Catholic education.
