USLT sends off pre-service teachers for practicum

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) held its Pre-Service Teachers’ Send-Off Ceremony on January 9, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Chapel. With the theme “Honing Excellence as a Beacon of Knowledge and Faith,” the ceremony celebrated the transformative role of educators in shaping the minds of future generations.

Mr. Julius T. Viernes, Education Program Specialist II from the Department of Education, emphasized that having a strong support system is crucial for teachers to thrive and make a lasting impact on their learners. He highlighted the importance of support from family and the community in the journey of becoming an educator.

Adding inspiration to the event was Ms. Rejielyn M. Esquivel, a proud Louisian and a national topnotcher who ranked 10th in the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers – Elementary Level. Her story reinforced the belief that with perseverance and passion, success in the teaching profession is within reach.

A symbolic part of the ceremony was the pinning of the 33 pre-service teachers, signifying their readiness to take on the responsibilities of the teaching profession.

The candle lighting ceremony followed the pinning, symbolizing educators’ role as beacons of light and hope in the lives of their students. With their candles lit, the students took their pledge, affirming their commitment to uphold the values of integrity, service, and excellence as they embark on their teaching journey.

The send-off ceremony served as a meaningful milestone in the journey of future educators, preparing them to take their first steps toward making a lasting impact in the field of education.
