USLT named CHED ICONS Awardee for 2nd consecutive year

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) has once again been recognized on the international stage as it received the International Rankings Award during the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Internationalization Champions of Nation Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2025 held on December 10, 2025, at the Philippine International Convention Center.

This back-to-back recognition highlights USLT’s continued excellence in global higher education performance, particularly in two prestigious international ranking systems:

• World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI)

WURI assesses universities based on their real-world impact and innovative approaches to education, research, and community engagement. It focuses on creativity, entrepreneurship, ethical value, student mobility, industry collaboration, and social responsibility—placing strong emphasis on how institutions contribute to society beyond traditional academic metrics.

• Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings

THE Impact Rankings measure universities’ contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It evaluates the institution’s research, outreach, and stewardship efforts across various dimensions of sustainability, including quality education, gender equality, good health and well-being, environmental action, and strong institutional partnerships.

USLT’s inclusion in both the WURI 2025 and THE Impact Rankings 2025 earned the university this year’s CHED ICONS distinction. Notably, USLT is one of only 173 Higher Education Institutions in the Philippines honored in the 2025 ICONS Awards, underscoring its active role in advancing internationalization, innovation, and sustainable development in the country.

Representing the university during the ceremony was Dr. Darin Jan C. Tindowen, Senior Director of the University Research and Innovation Office (URIO), who received the award on behalf of Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, PhD, University President.
