The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) launched and blessed its new water refilling station at the University Canteen of the Main Campus today, October 28, 2026.
The blessing ceremony was led by Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., University President, and Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, MATh-PM, Vice President for Mission and Identity/University Chaplain, and witnessed by members of the administration, faculty, staff, and students.
As the concessionaire of the new water refilling station, Flowlife Water Refilling Station will serve the drinking water needs of the Louisian community, supporting the university’s efforts to provide access to drinking water while reducing reliance on single-use plastic bottles.
This movement supports its institutional policy, “Bawal ang Plastic.” From this day forward, the university canteen will no longer sell bottled water. The administration has also prohibited bringing plastic bottled water onto campus and encourages the university community to bring reusable drinking containers as part of its efforts to reduce plastic waste.
Through this measure, USLT promotes responsible consumption and encourages Louisian students, faculty, and personnel to take part in protecting the environment through simple, everyday actions.
As a Louisian community, everyone is encouraged to embrace this change and make reusable containers a daily habit. Together, we can help build a cleaner, more sustainable, and environmentally responsible campus.
This initiative also supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Clean Water and Sanitation by promoting access to drinking water on campus. It also advances SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production by encouraging the use of reusable containers and reducing plastic waste. Furthermore, this contributes to SDG 13: Climate Action by encouraging practices that help lessen the environmental impact of plastic waste. Through these efforts, USLT promotes responsible water consumption and environmental care within the Louisian community.
