USLT honors future educators at Pre-Service Teachers’ Send-Off Ceremony

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) held the Pre-Service Teachers’ Send-Off Ceremony on January 15, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Chapel, gathering education students, parents, administrators, and faculty members in a meaningful rite of passage. Anchored on the theme “Ad Lumina Sapientia: Shaping Adaptive, Innovative, and Human-Centered Educators,” the ceremony marked the students’ formal preparation for their off-campus teaching and professional journey.

The program formally commenced with a eucharistic celebration, presided over by Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, Vice President for Mission and Identity and University Chaplain. Following the mass, Dr. Herbert S. Corpuz, Dean of the School of Advanced Studies and the School of Education, Criminology, Arts and Psychology (SAS/SECAP), delivered the welcome address, underscoring the responsibility of future educators to respond to the evolving needs of learners and communities.

Thereafter, the ceremony was enriched by an inspirational message from Dr. Mark Anthony M. Artis, Master Teacher I of Baua National High School, who encouraged the pre-service teachers to remain adaptive, innovative, and grounded in compassion as they enter real classroom settings.

Adding recognition to the event, the program also featured the awarding of mock board examination top scorers, acknowledging academic diligence and preparedness among the candidates.

The highlight of the ceremony was the Pinning Ceremony, symbolizing readiness for the teaching profession, facilitated by Dr. Corpuz, Dr. Liza M. Empedrad, Associate Dean of SAS/SECAP, and Mr. Efren S. Saddul, Adviser of the Louisian Institute of Future Educators (LIFE).

In addition, the pre-service teachers were joined by their parents, with Mrs. Nemia D. Laureta delivering a message on behalf of the parents, expressing gratitude and support for the students’ academic journey.

Afterwhich, the pledge of commitment was led by Ayesha Yasmeen H. Eugenio, one of the pre-service teachers, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony and an audio-visual presentation that served as a heartfelt tribute to the students’ growth and aspirations.
