USLT-BES Team LAB KO ’TO shines as Brightest STAR Awardee at 2024 DOST-SEI STARS Awards

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) proudly celebrates a remarkable achievement of the Basic Education School (BES) as Team LAB KO ’TO: A Comprehensive Laboratory Skills and Tools Augmentation Program for Public Integrated Schools was named the Brightest STAR Awardee in the 2024 STARS (STEM Teachers Achieving Remarkable Success in Society) Awards of the DOST-SEI from November 26-28, 2025.

This honor blazes a spotlight on the exceptional educators from BES, whose expertise, leadership, and dedication brought the project to life. Marvin C. Baccay, Charles Geraldwin S. Bautista, and Mark Noel John V. Calagui stood at the forefront of this endeavor, demonstrating how teacher-led innovation can meaningfully transform classroom practices and learning environments. Their work reflects the strength of the BES department in producing educators who are academically grounded and socially responsive.

Through the LAB KO ’TO project, the team strengthened laboratory instruction by developing structured skills training, improving access to essential laboratory tools, and enhancing the practical readiness of teachers and learners in public integrated schools in Tuguegarao City.

The university takes immense pride in the achievements of the BES educators, whose passion and perseverance continue to raise the standard of STEM education in Region II and beyond. Their success in the DOST-SEI 2024 STARS Awards stands as a testament to the power of collaboration, service-driven leadership, and the university’s enduring mission to make education a transformative force in society.
