USL welcomes holiday season with PAILAW 2024

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao officially welcomed the holiday season with the PAILAW 2024 held at the university grounds on November 22, 2024, themed “LIWANAG NG BITUIN: Tanglaw ng Daang Tungo sa Masiglang Paskuhan.”

Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, MATh-PM, delivered a solemn prayer to start the ceremony, establishing gratitude and reflection for the Christmas season.

After this, Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., delivered a heartfelt message to the Louisian community about what Christmas genuinely signifies. He began by encouraging everyone to reflect on the decorations around them, emphasizing that these should serve as reminders of the essence of Christmas, which is love. He shared that this love stems from our Lord Jesus Christ, who was sent by the Father to be with us. As we enjoy the season, Fr. Maniwang remarked that he hopes and prays this love will endure in everyone’s hearts and minds.

Despite the difficulties the community has encountered recently, such as typhoons and floods, he assured the Louisians that their Christmas celebrations should not be hampered. He reminded them that despite hardship, God is always there and that these obstacles are only challenges to overcome.

Fr. Maniwang additionally tied the celebration to CICM Day, emphasizing that the love of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the CICM’s missionary work and existence. He encouraged everyone to let this Christmas be filled with love that is not self-centered but focused on the welfare of others.

He concluded his message by extending his advanced greetings to the Louisians, wishing them a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, and reminding them once again to keep the love of God at the center of their celebrations.

Following the address, the Center for Culture and the Arts (CCA) treated the audience to a wonderful performance in which CICM Scholars showcased their musical and dancing skills.

The PAILAW 2024 contested events will be held on December 6, 2024, along with USL’s Catholic Educators’ Day and “SA DALAWANG-DAAN, MAY SASAKYAN NA AKO RAFFLE PROMO 2” Grand Draw.
