The Louisian community ushered in the Lenten season and celebrated Ash Wednesday with Eucharistic Masses simultaneously held at the university’s Open Field and Good Shepherd Chapel on February 14, 2024.
The celebration emphasized the significance of Ash Wednesday as a time for everyone to reorient their hearts, minds, and lives towards the Lord, while encouraging everyone to live a life of generosity, as exemplified in the gospel passage, and urging the community to cultivate humility and sincerity in their daily lives.
Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., University President, presided over the mass at the Good Shepherd Chapel attended by Grades 1–8, while Rev. Fr. John Mark Barroga, University Chaplain, spearheaded the mass held at the Open Field, which was attended by Grade 9 to college students as well as university employees.
Ash Wednesday signals the beginning of Lent, a 40-day period for self-reflection and penitence. As we begin the season of Lent, let’s take time to reflect on our lives and how we can be better people. This 40-day period of self-reflection and penitence is a chance to slow down, reflect, and make meaningful changes in our lives.
