USL students reigned Mr. and Ms. IP Tuguegarao 2024

After competing against representatives from 16 participating schools, Lord Armanjae C. Gutierrez, a Grade 12 student, and Fatma R. Omran, a Grade 11 student, brought pride to the university after being crowned Mr. and Ms. Indigenous Peoples (IPs) Tuguegarao 2024 during the competition held on October 16, 2024, at the People’s Gymnasium in Tuguegarao City.


As Mr. Indigenous Peoples Tuguegarao 2024, Gutierrez expressed his gratitude and called for unity among Indigenous Peoples. “I am deeply honored to represent our rich heritage and the resilience of our communities. To all Indigenous Peoples, let us unite in celebrating our cultures and advocating for our rights. Together, we can create a brighter future that honors our traditions and empowers our voices.”


In addition to the prestigious title, Gutierrez also garnered several special awards, including Mr. Glamorous, Best in Introduction, and Best in Creative Attire.


Omran, crowned as Ms. Indigenous Peoples Tuguegarao 2024, also impressed the judges and the audience, earning accolades such as Ms. Close-up Smile, Best in Ramp Walk, and Best in Creative Attire. She shared her vision for her role, stating, “The moment I was crowned, I understood that I also had a responsibility to carry. I aim to empower the youth and create an inclusive world for Indigenous communities.”


She also expressed her gratitude: “Above all, I would like to thank God for giving me the strength and courage to continue; without Him, none of this would be possible. To my mom and dad, thank you for always supporting me in all of my competitions. And to all the Louisians who supported me and my partner, kuya Armanjae, thank you. This is all for you.”


Following their victory, Gutierrez and Omran will go on to represent the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Tuguegarao City in the Regional Mr. and Ms. IPED 2024, set to be held in Quirino Province, with the date yet to be confirmed.


The event, organized by the SDO-Tuguegarao City, was part of the wider celebration of Indigenous Peoples Month, highlighting the rich cultural diversity and heritage of the locality.
