New USL employees undergo orientation, induction

New members of the University workforce attended a one-and-a-half day onboarding activity at the main campus on September 30 to October 1, 2024.

The event, which is considered a university function, mandated all new full-time employees to gain knowledge about general aspects of the University categorized as Mission and Identity, Academics, Administration, and Finance.

The Office of the VP for Mission and Identity and University Chaplain, led by Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, MATh-PM, provided discussions on the CICM Mission and Identity, USL Vision and Mission, and the Core Louisian Values, as well as employee involvement in Christian Formation, Campus Ministry, Community programs and CICM Advocacies, and the Guidance Services.

To address the academic phase of the program, Dr. Luisa B. Aquino, VP for Academics, gave a presentation on the University’s Academic Policies specifically aimed at the teaching group to guide them in their instructional duties and responsibilities. Meanwhile, tackled by the concerned heads, employee involvement in Research and in Library Services capped the orientation on academic-related topics.

On the other hand, Vice President for Administration Marie Rose P. Mora and heads under the administration unit briefed the new employees on Administrative Policies, Code of Conduct for Employees, Institutional Benefits, the Child Protection Policy and Anti-Sexual Harassment Law, the Data Privacy Act, Employee Involvement in Student Services, Important Provisions in the Student Handbook, the Safe Spaces Act, and Occupational Health and Safety.

Financial matters were aptly presented by the Finance Office under the care of the Vice President for Finance, Dr. Celso L. Tuddao, who was represented.

The orientation program included the recitation and singing of the USL Quality Policy and USL Hymn, respectively. The new hires also took their oath of commitment as a way of their induction into the USL community.

To inspire the newly minted Louisian employees, Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D., University president, gave his message, as did the Human Resource Management and Services (HRMS) senior director, Dr. Alicia S. Tuliao.
