Louisian trio shines at Generics Awareness Month singing contest

Three student representatives of the University of Saint Louis secured second place in the Trio Singing Contest: Generics Edition, as part of the Generics Awareness Month Celebration.

The trio, known as “USL Pharmony Trio 2024,” was composed of three talented Louisian students: Geoffrey Paulo M. Zingapan, a BS Psychology student; Djan David G. Magora, a BS Pharmacy student; and Joshua Rey C. Lucero, a BS Accountancy student. Said student representatives are members of the Center for Culture and the Arts (CCA), headed by Mr. Rafael T. Binasoy, the CCA Coordinator for Music, who helped enhance their vocal and musical prowess in preparation for the competition.

The event took place on September 13, 2024, at Hotel Carmelita, Diversion Road, Tuguegarao City, with the theme, “Generics para sa Kalidad na Alaga at Ginhawang Abot Kaya.”

Furthermore, said students performed their originally composed song in connection with the theme of the program. Their song highlighted the importance of generics in providing affordable and high-quality healthcare solutions.

Organized by the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD) through its Pharmaceutical Management Unit, the contest was part of the celebration for the 36th anniversary of the Generics Law of 1988. The event aimed to promote public awareness of the role of generics in enhancing access to healthcare services.

The success of the trio showcases their musical skills and demonstrates how they have grown as students. They showed how holistic growth shapes their confidence, abilities, and sense of social responsibility, preparing them for significant contributions in their future careers by establishing a balance between academic pursuits and creative expression. Their involvement also highlighted how important it is for society as a whole to promote generics as an essential part of public health.
