What began as a passion for service and leadership at the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao has grown into international success for Valerie Joy C. Agustin, SHS alumna and former Supreme Student Council Magnifico President (A.Y. 2020-2021). Valerie has reached a major academic milestone, graduating Summa Cum Laude with dual degrees in Political Science and Accounting from Brigham Young University–Hawaii, earning recognition for her exceptional achievements and unwavering dedication.
Her academic excellence earned her a feature in The Manila Times on June 19, 2025, where her inspiring story of perseverance and purpose reached national attention.
This achievement is more than a personal milestone. It is a powerful reflection of the values instilled at USLT: faith, integrity, service, and leadership. As a former SSC President, Agustin was known for her initiative, compassion, and vision—qualities that helped her thrive in an international academic setting.
Transitioning to life and studies in Hawaii was not without its hurdles. Valerie faced cultural adjustments, rigorous coursework, and new responsibilities but her grounding as a Louisian helped her meet every challenge head-on.
“Leadership doesn’t end at the borders of your hometown—it transforms as you grow,” she said in her interview, reflecting on how her USLT experience equipped her to lead wherever life takes her.
While at BYU–Hawaii, Valerie was also active in student and cultural organizations, where she proudly represented the Philippines and celebrated her heritage with the global campus community.
Her journey serves as an inspiration to Louisian students everywhere: proof that with determination, strong values, and a heart to serve, dreams can go beyond borders.
As Valerie sets her eyes on future academic and professional pursuits, she remains a proud Louisian—ready to lead, to serve, and to create change wherever she goes.
