Higher Education

  1. Senior High School graduates who wish to enroll in any degree course in USL should pass the University entrance examination administered by the College Guidance and Counseling Center. USL reserves the right to prescribe its own entrance examinations and requirements.
  2. The University does not admit a student who is either involved or is a party in any pending civil, criminal, or administrative case unless he/she shall present his/her enrollment court clearance where the case is pending. The University does not admit any student who is convicted in any criminal case, even during the pendency of an appeal.
  3. A student who has a case pending with the Committee on Discipline of the school cannot be re-admitted for the next term or summer until the case has been decided and the student has been cleared of the offense.
  4. For audit purposes, USL does not accept students at any time during a school term without first earning credits.
  5. Students with special needs shall submit a certificate from authorized health experts stating fitness to undergo regular academic educational activities.
  6. SHS graduates of the non-STEM strand who wish to be admitted to the Engineering and Architecture Programs have to complete the University’s re-stranding program.
    • Result of the USL-CET at the Guidance and Counseling Center;
    • Original Form 138-A (Senior High School Report Card);
    • Certificate of Good Moral Character, signed by the Senior High School Principal;
    • One (1) copy of certified PSA Birth certificate;
    • If married, submit a certificate of Church marriage;
    • Affidavit of non-cohabitation for solo parents;
  Incoming College first-year students who have met all requirements for admission are admitted at the Office of Student Affairs & Services.
Students who come to enroll after the prescribed period of enrollment are considered late enrollees. In such cases, they can only be admitted upon compliance with the following:
  • Must see the Academic Dean for endorsement of admission and approval of enrollment in the DSAS;
  • Must present an approval slip from the Academic Dean to the admission officer/ DSAS;
  • Once enrolment is approved, the concerned student has to pay the late enrolment fee.
Former USL students who discontinued their studies for one semester or more may be admitted subject to the following requirement:
 
  • Must see the Dean of Student Affairs & Services for an interview;
  • Must submit a copy of the approved academic leave of absence;
  • Must submit NBI/ Police clearance;
  • Must submit drug test clearance from any CHED- accredited Drug Testing Centers;
  • Must submit Certificate of Church marriage (if married) or affidavit of non-cohabitation if solo parent.
The following will be required:
 
    • Certificate of Eligibility to Transfer;
    • Certified True Copy of Academic Records;
    • Must have passed all subjects (no failures, drops, or incompletes);
    • Certificate of Good Moral Character, duly signed by the proper school authority from the school he/she last attended;
    • Must present the original PSA-authenticated birth certificate and submit a photocopy of a similar document;
    • Must pass the Placement Test;
    • Certification from any USL employee to serve as a guarantor/guardian;
    • If married, must submit a certificate of Church marriage or affidavit of non cohabitation if a solo parent;
    • Drug test clearance from an accredited Drug Testing Center;
    • NBI clearance
  (Transferee students are accepted on a probationary status.)
A Committee on Admission of Transferees, consisting of the Dean of Student Affairs & Services as Chair, and the Academic Deans as members, deliberates on the applicants for transfer after having submitted all required documents. The same Committee recommends the result of deliberation to the Vice President for Academics for approval. Once approved, the transferee can be admitted officially at the Student Affairs office.
As a rule, cross enrollment is discouraged; however, at the discretion of the Institution, a request for cross enrollment may be allowed in accordance with the Institution’s academic policies and standards on retention, promotion, transfer, and cross-enrollment, and only under the circumstances as follows:
  • When the desired subjects are not offered by the institution the student is enrolled in, during the last term of the requesting graduating student’s enrollment;
  • When the subjects are offered but their schedules conflict with the requesting student’s other class schedules, and
  • When the student intends to spend the school term in his home province or region and enrolls in subjects offered by an institution located therein, provided that, such a request is in accordance with the accepting institution’s policy on cross-enrollment.
  1. Cross-enrollment Restrictions (from USL to another school)
    • Student’s reason for cross-enrollment must conform to the above allowable conditions for cross-enrollment.
    • No major/professional subjects are allowed to be taken in other schools. However, if exceptions are made, they should enroll only in accredited schools.
    • General Education subjects are allowed to be taken only in accredited or sister schools.
  2. Cross-enrollment Restrictions (from USL to another school)
    • Permit to cross enroll from school of origin;
    • Certificate of Good Moral Character;
    • Allowed to enroll only during the last three (3) days of enrollment.
    • Note: Please keep in mind that all cross-enrollment concerns must be approved by the Vice-President for Academics.
A foreign applicant who graduated from a senior high school from another country and has not enrolled in college may be admitted to the University if he/she meets the following requirements:
  • Applicant’s Student Visa;
  • Medical Certificate;
  • Five (5) copies of the Student’s Personal History Statement (PHS) duly signed by him/her, both in English and in his/her national alphabet, accompanied by his/her personal seal, if any, and containing, among others, his/her left and right thumbprints and a 2 x 2-inch photograph on plain white background, taken not more than six months prior to submission;
  • A notarized affidavit of support, including bank statements or notarized notice of grant for institutional scholars to cover expenses for the student’s accommodation and subsistence, as well as school dues and other incidental expenses;
  • Scholastic records duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post located in the student applicant’s country of origin or legal residence;
  • Photocopy of the data page of the student’s passport showing date and place of birth; and birth certificate or its equivalent duly authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post;
  • Interview with the Dean of Student Affairs and Services and the Academic Dean of the college where he/she intends to enroll;
  • Must pass the Placement Test.
  • Students surrender their ID cards from the previous school year at the Office of Student Affairs & Services. The following regulations will be observed:
    • Students who failed in 50-69% of their enrolled units during their last term will be required to see their Academic Dean for the signing of the contract.
    • Students who incurred 70% failing grades or more on the enrolled units in the previous term will no longer be re-admitted.
    • Students who officially dropped all subjects may be re-admitted upon submission of the admission requirements.
    • Students who failed twice in a professional subject will be required to shift to a more fitting program.
    • Students who failed thrice in a non-professional subject will no longer be admitted in USL.
    Note: Specific provisions and guidelines on student retention per program shall be applied.
