BSEd student wins 1st place in Lesson Planning

Angel Marie P. Calucag, a fourth-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English student, claimed first place in the Lesson Planning Competition held on October 5, 2024. Organized by the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction-Philippine Student-Teachers’ Network (WCCI-PSTN), the competition was conducted online and open to teacher-education programs from schools across the country.

Calucag’s winning entry featured a lesson plan on public speaking, which highlighted a student-centered approach to teaching. As an English major, she used the English language as the medium of instruction. The competition was held in celebration of World Teachers’ Day, allowing student-teachers to showcase their expertise in the field of education.

Reflecting on her victory, Calucag shared, “I am thankful for being given the opportunity to share my expertise through this activity. This experience will be remembered by me for a lifetime since this is a first for me. Joining this event made me gain more self-confidence within my field.”

She also expressed gratitude to Joy Xyza D. Moreno, MST, her cooperating teacher who reviewed her work, and Kristine Mae R. Auayang, MAEd, the Teacher Education and Languages department head, who trusted her to represent the department in the competition.

Other events held during the celebration included the Jingleling: Jingle Song Contest, Siklab-Slogan: Isipin, Ipinid, Ipakita!, Recorded Teaching Demonstration, and Be our Guest: A Story-Telling Quest.

This achievement brings pride to the university and serves as an inspiration, most especially to the Louisian student-teachers.
