BIDABESt! The university main campus echoed the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie as the Basic Education School (BES) students competed for the championship crown in the 2024 Intramurals.
Six teams competed in various sports, literary, socio-cultural, visual, and special events during the week-long festivity held on December 13 to 20, 2024. The teams were named Bronze (The Eternal Watchers of Sparta’s Flame of Valor), Green (The Immortal Battalion of Persian Knights), Gold (The Valiant Honor Guards of Egypt’s Pharaoh), Metallic Blue (The Midnight Shadow Blades of the Rising Sun), Grey (The Gallant Sentinels of the Feathered Serpents), and Maroon (The Phoenix Legion of the Zhou Dynasty) teams.
The festivities kicked off on December 13 with an opening program and field demonstration, followed by the Teachers’ Concert and Eucharistic Mass. Afterwards, BES opened the Socio-Cultural Night, signified by the Lighting of the Torch and the highly anticipated Jumpstreet Competition, in which the Metallic Blue team emerged victorious and won the championship title.
The second day held on December 16 commenced with a parade around the main campus and the Festival Dance Street Parade and Festival Dance Showdown. The Gold team dominated the morning events, securing first place in both competitions. Following the morning events, BES held preliminaries for the search for the next BES Ambassador and Ambassadress at Robinsons Place.
Day three showcased the enthusiasm and determination of the participants during the field demonstration and another major event dubbed Bleachers Gimmick. The Metallic Blue team stood out with their creative performance, ultimately securing the championship title in the latter event.
The fourth day resumed on December 19 and featured the finals of the search for the BES Ambassador and Ambassadress. After an intense match, Mr. Allan Kyle Paguirigan of the Green team and Ms. Athaliah Cruz of the Grey team won the BES Ambassador and Ambassadress title, respectively.
The spirit of sportsmanship was palpable as the teams showcased their prowess to claim victory. Under the theme “Echoed Conquest: Fostering Harmony and Unifying Horizons Across Empires Toward Excellence,” the intramurals illuminated the students’ skills and talents, creating an atmosphere of healthy competition and camaraderie.
