BES features various activities for Buwan ng Wika celebration

The Basic Education School (BES) spearheaded the celebration of Buwan ng Wika, featuring various activities throughout the month.

Students, faculty, and staff kicked off the celebration in an opening program held on August 6, 2024, at the JHS Quadrangle. The audience was treated to creative performances of Filipino originals such as Noli Me Tangere and Florante at Laura.

Following the opening, BES conducted various activities for the duration of August. The BES students challenged their wit, knowledge, and creativity on contested activities in writing, speech, arts, and quiz bee areas.

Each unit of BES also held events, wherein the elementary students competed in the contests dubbed “Patimpalak sa Katutubong Sayaw” and “Presentasyon ng Katutubong Kasuotan.” Furthermore, the Junior High School students contended in events called “Patimpalak sa Sabayang Pagbasa,” “Pagtatanghal ng Jingle,” Paligsahan sa Tula-Dula,” and “Presentasyon ng Radio Infomercial,” while the Senior High School unit also held the “Sabayang Pagbigkas” activity.

Pistang Pinoy, held on August 29, 2024, marked the culmination of the celebration. Students and faculty gathered for a lunchtime celebration in their respective classrooms, immersing the students in Filipino culture, traditions, and cuisine.

With the theme “Filipino: Wikang Mapaglaya,” the celebration sought to promote the significance of the Filipino language in one’s life. “Pangunahing layunin ng gawain ang maipamalas ang pagmamahal at pagpapahalaga sa diwa ng ating Wikang Pambansa sa pamamagitan ng iba’t-ibang gawaing magpapatunay sa galing at kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral sa BES,” shared Ms. Mary Jane Q. Javier, MST, BES Filipino/Mother Tongue Area Head.

The fruitful month-long celebration was organized by the BES Filipino/Mother Tongue Department, along with the help of the Filipino faculty members and HIYAS club members.
