ABM students gained insights for smarter consumer decisions

The Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) students gained valuable insights to confidently navigate the complexities of the marketplace during the Consumer Welfare in Action seminar, themed “Empowering the Youth: Making Smart Consumer Choices for Safe Purchases.” Organized by the ABM Area of the Basic Education School, in collaboration with the ABM GEMxecutives and The BOSS (Business Optimizers Student Society), this seminar supports the Consumer Welfare Month celebration of the Department of Trade and Industry. It also focuses on equipping future business professionals with essential consumer skills.

Atty. Angie U. Gumaru, Chief of the Consumer Protection Division at DTI Cagayan Provincial Office, shared her expertise on deceptive sales practices, product standards, and consumer rights. She guided students in recognizing misleading tactics, prioritizing safety, and understanding their rights as informed consumers.

The interactive format fostered a dynamic learning environment, leaving a lasting impact on the students. By promoting responsible consumption and informed decision-making, the seminar empowered these future business leaders to approach the marketplace with confidence and make ethical choices.

Lastly, the seminar aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 by promoting responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), ensuring that the ABM students are equipped to make ethical and informed consumer choices that support sustainable economic practices.
