ABM educators nationwide unite in first-ever Virtual Synergy 2025

Organized by the USLT BES-SHS ABM Area, this first-of-its-kind gathering brought together 32 schools from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, under the theme “Sharing What Works, Shaping What’s Next,” uniting educators in a spirit of collaboration and innovation on September 13, 2025, via Zoom.

The program opened with a prayer from Ma’am Caroline B. Borres, Subject Area Coordinator at San Carlos School of Cebu, followed by the statement of purpose delivered by Mr. John Mosel B. Bitonio, MBA, ABM Area Head of USLT. He emphasized that this initiative is about sharing practices and fostering a Professional Learning Community (PLC) that strengthens bonds among ABM educators nationwide. This was followed by the welcome remarks of Dr. Emily T. Mabborang, BES Principal, who reminded participants that sharing best practices turns challenges into stepping stones in advancing ABM education. Reinforcing this message, Dr. Luisa B. Aquino, Vice President for Academics, encouraged educators to sustain collaboration, noting that a strong PLC ensures best pedagogical practices take root and flourish.

The webinar sessions commenced with Ma’am Windie L. Odoño, faculty at De La Salle University Manila, who emphasized grounding Applied Economics in credible data, current issues, and real-world contexts to develop critical and analytical thinkers. She was followed by Mr. John Victor M. Monzon, CPA, ABM Strand Coordinator at National University MOA, who offered solutions to common struggles in FABM, stressing that mastering processes before tech integration builds confidence and stronger learning outcomes.

After the webinar sessions, the program moved to sharing best pedagogical practices. Asst. Prof. Japril D. Calaluña, ABM faculty at Silliman University, showed how interdisciplinary tasks anchored in POLC (Planning, Organizing, Leading, Controlling) foster integration and address workload challenges of students. Mr. Mark Vincent B. Bantog, ABM faculty of USLT, introduced the “Mentor-Mentee Program” strategy and peer/team teaching that empower collaboration among teachers and enrich ABM delivery. Mr. Albert Gaddiel T. Cobico, ABM faculty at FEU High School, highlighted experiential entrepreneurial learning through projects, prototypes, and tools like the Opportunity Attractiveness Matrix for real-world application. Additionally, Mr. Ahdrian P. Senden, ABM Strand Coordinator of UST Angelicum College, presented innovative and international immersion programs, including “Cafe Ange,” an ABM Lab where students gain entrepreneurial practice. Finally, Ma’am Janelle A. Lou Galamiton, ABM faculty at Xavier University–Ateneo de Cagayan, stressed SDG-aligned subject integration to promote socially responsible entrepreneurship and local business engagement.

Before proceeding to the open forum, a special segment featuring schools that piloted the SHS Strengthened Curriculum was presented. The University of Batangas and National University MOA shared their experiences, challenges, and opportunities, giving participants a practical view of how the new curriculum can be implemented effectively. This was then followed by a dynamic Q&A session, which provided educators with an avenue to clarify key points, share insights, and raise practical concerns on ABM strand implementation.

The lively exchange underscored the value of continuous dialogue in strengthening the PLC. As the program drew to a close, certificates of appreciation were awarded to all resource speakers and sharers. The event concluded with a call to sustain the PLC through upcoming flagship events of the ABM Area, such as the 7th GENtrepreneuZ: ABM Convention and the 2nd ABM Accounting Olympiad, both of which were opened to co-hosting partnerships. A meaningful prayer led by Ma’am Alcha Mae A. Macas formally closed the activity.

The ABM Educators’ Synergy 2025, under the leadership of Mr. John Mosel B. Bitonio, MBA, ABM Area Head of USLT, stands as a milestone that transformed the sharing of best practices into a nationwide movement of ABM educators. Together, they shared what worked and charted what was next.
