The Christian Faith Education (CFED) department of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) conducted its In-Service Training (INSET) on September 26, 2026, bringing together CFED teachers from Basic Education School to College for a professional learning and Christian formation.
Bearing the theme “Safeguarding the Human Person: Faith, Mental Health, and Christian Formation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” the activity provided the faculty an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the human person and reflect on their role in accompanying and forming young people amid the growing influence of digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
The program featured a message from Rev. Fr. John Mark D. Barroga, CICM, Vice President for Mission and Identity/ University Chaplain who encouraged the faculty to remain attentive to the needs of the human person and to recognize their role not only as educators but also as guides in the Christian formation of young people.
The sessions provided opportunities for faculty members to share insights and reflections from various conferences and formation programs, allowing these learnings to be brought into the department’s continuing work in Christian education.
Beyond professional development, the gathering emphasized the importance of presence, compassionate listening, and care in Christian formation, particularly as educators accompany young people navigating an increasingly digital environment.
The activity supports Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by strengthening educators’ professional formation and capacity to provide meaningful learning experiences. It also contributes to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by highlighting mental health and the holistic care of the human person within the educational and formation setting.
