The Christian Faith Education (CFED) department of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) conducted its First Catechism Session for Senior High School students at Cagayan National High School (CNHS) on September 24, 2026.
The initiative was carried out through the collaboration of USLT and the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao, led by Ms. Maria Rosario Lappay, Catechetical Coordinator of the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao, with the guidance of Abigail F. Gumabay, MAEd, Head of the CFED department, and CFED instructors.
During the first session, USLT pre-service teachers facilitated catechetical activities for 10 sections of Senior High School students, with CFED instructors providing guidance and assistance throughout the sessions.
The activity provided the pre-service teachers an opportunity to apply their formation in the classroom by sharing their knowledge, faith, and experiences with the students. It also allowed them to gain practical experience in facilitating faith-based learning among young people.
The initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education by providing meaningful learning experiences for both Senior High School students and USLT pre-service teachers. It also reflects SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through the collaboration between the Archdiocese of Tuguegarao, Cagayan National High School, and USLT in advancing faith formation and education.
