The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) has taken a significant step in its internationalization efforts with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan on November 26, 2025. This marks USLT’s first formal academic collaboration in the Central Asian region.
The ceremonial signing was held at the newly renovated Sacred Heart Boardroom and was attended by key officials from both institutions. Representing the university were the University President, Rev. Fr. Macwayne N. Maniwang, CICM, Ph.D.; Vice President for Academics, Dr. Luisa B. Aquino; Vice President for Finance, Dr. Celso L. Tuddao; and Vice President for Administration, Dr. Marie Rose P. Mora. Also present was Dr. Herbert S. Corpuz, Dean of the School of Education, Criminology, Arts, and Psychology.
The delegation from the Ministry of Education Republic of Uzbekistan was composed of Ms. Shaklo Rakhmonovna Terimova, Head of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education International Program; Mr. Madaminbek Backtiyor Ug’li Abdullaev, Administrative Associate Head; Ms. Nilufarkhon Makhamdalievna Umarova and Mr. Sardorbek Sultanmurat Og’li Rajapov, Human Resource Department – Recruitment; and Mr. Reynante Sangguyo Bunuan, English Language Specialist.
The partnership outlines a wide range of academic and professional collaborations, including the exchange of expertise in education; joint events and training programs; and mutual visits for seminars, workshops, conferences, and other academic engagements. It also opens opportunities for developing and retraining qualified education specialists, deploying English-language teachers to Uzbekistan, and organizing internships for senior education students in partner schools.
This milestone partnership underscores USLT’s commitment to expanding its international presence and creating meaningful pathways for global learning and collaboration.
