USLT strengthens community spirit through Bloodletting Activity

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT), through its Community Engagement and CICM Advocacies (CECA), held a bloodletting activity on September 10, 2025, at the N-Hall.

The initiative was organized in partnership with the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) Blood Bank, with strong support from USLT Medical Technology and Nursing Departments, whose faculty and students assisted in the activity.

The bloodletting aimed to help replenish the supply of blood at CVMC and ensure that patients in need, such as those undergoing surgery, accident victims, and individuals with life-threatening illnesses, have access to this vital resource.

Students and employees of USLT, along with representatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and other volunteer donors outside the university, actively took part in the drive.

A total of 130 bags of blood were successfully collected, reflecting the community’s generosity and shared commitment to saving lives.

Prior to the activity, a Bloodletting Seminar was conducted on September 5, 2025, at the same venue with Ms. Marchel A. Acilador, RMT, as the guest speaker. She highlighted the benefits of blood donation, discussed common deferrals, and provided essential guidelines before and after donating blood. The seminar was attended by faculty members and student leaders, equipping them with knowledge to better support the cause.

The activity reflected the community’s generosity and unity, showing how small acts of service can make a lasting difference in saving lives.
