Project ASTA concludes 6th year with two-part ABM SHS tutorial series

Project ASTA (ABM Senior High School Tutorial Activity) wrapped up its 6th year with two dynamic tutorial sessions this July 2025, bringing practical business and finance concepts closer to ABM Senior High School students.

The first session was held on July 17, 2025 at Cagayan National High School, where Grade 11 ABM students engaged in an in-depth exploration of the concept of Time Value of Money. Facilitated by students enrolled in Intermediate Accounting 3, the tutorial covered the principle that a peso today holds more value than a peso in the future, the role of interest in growing or discounting money over time, and step-by-step methods for present value and future value computations. Through guided examples, interactive exercises, and problem-solving drills, participants learned how to apply these concepts in scenarios such as savings growth, loan payments, and investment planning.

The second and final leg of the 6th year took place on July 30, 2025 at the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao for Grade 12 ABM students. Led by Council Leaders of the Junior Philippine Association of Management Accountants (JPAMA), the session focused on Financial Statements (IAS 1), including the required structure and components of financial statements, presentation rules and formatting under international accounting standards, and practical case exercises linking theory to real-world reporting.

From mastering the mathematics of money to understanding how businesses present their financial health, Project ASTA’s 6th year equipped ABM students with knowledge that bridges the gap between classroom theory and practical application. “As we enter our 7th year, expect a more intensified conduct of ASTA — more schools, more topics, and more interactive delivery methods,” said Project Adviser Mr. Jerome D. Marquez.
