USLT holds 2nd Regional STEM Convention

Students from the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand came together for the 2nd Regional STEM Convention held on February 27-28, 2025, at the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao (USLT) Main and BCJ campuses.


The first day commenced with an opening program in the morning, followed by a knowledge-sharing session in the afternoon held at the Bulwagang Pacifico Casem. Esteemed resource speakers from various fields provided valuable insights. 


Dr. Rei Kristoffer Ubiña addressed the role of artificial intelligence in diagnosing and treating diseases as well as the global health challenges, while Ms. Vanessa Joy F. Calderon from the Department of Agriculture discussed career opportunities in agricultural innovation and technology through STEM and entrepreneurship.


On the second day of the convention, Engr. Rosario Danga, the Provincial Director of the Department of Science and Technology—Cagayan Province, explored the role of engineering in designing cities for the 21st century and in mitigating the impact of natural disasters. Mrs. Deanna Malana from Cagayan National High School (CNHS) also shared perspectives on using games to boost engagement and learning.


The second day also featured contested events such as the science and mathematics olympiad, as well as science investigatory project poster and paper presentations. The convention concluded with a socialization night held at the BCJ campus.


Dubbed “STEMulated: 2nd Regional STEM Convention,” the event gathered STEM students from Echague National High School, Cataggaman National High School, Gosi National High School, San Pablo National High School, Namabbalan Integrated School, Linao National High School, Capatan Integrated School, Diadi National High School, CNHS-JHS, and USLT-Basic Education School.


The convention aimed to inspire and spark innovation among STEM students and teachers in education and career pursuits throughout the region.
