USLT ignites vibrant culture in Float Parade, Festival Dance

The University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao turned the city streets into life with their vivacious expression of culture in the Float Parade and Festival Dance.

Each department showcased intricately designed floats, carrying the Louisian ambassador and ambassadress alongside their symbolic spirit animal, representing their strength and determination. The School of Architecture, Computing, and Engineering (SACE) featured a dragon, the Basic Education School (BES) displayed a fox, the School of Education, Criminology, Arts, and Psychology (SECAP) highlighted a Pegasus, the School of Accountancy, Business, and Hospitality (SABH) presented a lion, and the School of Health and Allied Sciences (SHAS) showcased a serpent. These spirit animals not only added depth to the parade but also reflected the distinct identity and values of each department.

In the Float Making competition, BES emerged as the champion, followed by SACE as first runner-up and SECAP as second runner-up.

Likewise, the Festival Dance is a highlight where the university’s five departments competed in a dynamic performance inspired by Tuguegarao City’s Afi Festival Dance. Rooted in the traditions of the Ybanag people, this dance reflects historical practices in which lighting fires holds a spiritual significance and serves as a form of protection.

In the Festival Dance competition, BES claimed the championship, with SECAP as first runner-up and SACE securing second runner-up.

Beyond the competition, the event fostered unity and spirit among the Louisian community. The participation of the administration, employees, students, and the whole Louisian community underscored the strong sense of belonging and pride within the university.

The Float Parade and Festival Dance served not only as a platform for artistic and cultural expression but also as a testament to USLT’s commitment to preserving and celebrating traditions that define its identity.
